Getting to Know Viruca Yebra: A Special Friendship and an Unforgettable Experience on the Miami Pirate Ship

text

Recently, I had the honor of meeting Viruca Yebra, a talented Spanish writer and journalist, recognized for her profound literary work, such as El llanto de la Isla de Pascua. Published by Editorial Planeta, this work has been praised for its reflective and personal style. In addition to this, Viruca has written other notable books such as El fuego del flamboyán(2016), which narrates the Galician emigration to Cuba, and La última condesa nazi (2021).

What I didn’t expect, however, is how our professional connection would lead to such a special friendship. We met on a trip to Marbella, and since that moment, in a short period of time, we have become good friends. I admire her immensely, not only for her impressive literary career but also for her warmth and her way of seeing the world.

During one of our conversations, Viruca asked me about my life and my work, and that’s when I proudly told her about Miami Aqua Tours, owner of one of the most special icons of Miami: the pirate ship “El Loro.” What made me laugh a lot was that Viruca, in her role as a client, had already enjoyed an experience aboard our ship.

It’s incredible how life surprises us with such beautiful coincidences, where a simple gesture, like that photo, can create an even stronger bond.
